R&B Artist and Atlanta Native Keri Hilson Delivers Meals To Seniors Ahead of Christmas with Meals On Wheels Atlanta
Keri Hilson joined the effort to deliver meals and holiday cheer to Atlanta seniors
December 22, 2022 (Atlanta, Ga.) R&B artist and actress Keri Hilson was excited to spread holiday cheer on Thursday afternoon in west Atlanta. The Pretty Girl Rock singer took time to tour the headquarters of Meals On Wheels Atlanta (MOWA) and deliver meals to seniors in the metro area experiencing food insecurity. Hilson, a native of Decatur, learned about the numerous aid programs that MOWA operates daily to keep seniors independent and comfortable, including their emergency food pantry, pet food pantry, home repair program and weekly meal and grocery deliveries.
“It has been an incredible learning experience for me to see firsthand all that MOWA is doing for our seniors.” said Hilson. “MOWA’s clients are our former teachers, first responders, doctors and community leaders; it was my pleasure to served them today. The work MOWA does year-round to ensure our seniors are cared for is inspiring. ”
Hilson has a lot to celebrate this year, from the release of her new movie on VH1, Hip Hop Family Christmas Wedding, to finishing up this year’s Millennium Tour with Bow Wow and quietly promising that new music is on its way. With a long track record of philanthropy, Hilson is no stranger to giving back to her community.
“We were absolutely thrilled to host Keri today to sgive her a glimpse into the work that we do for our seniors,” said Charlene Crusoe-Ingram, CEO of MOWA. “It is a huge blessing to us when a person with her level of reach is able to pay us a visit and encourage others to donate and volunteer.”
MOWA currently serves 650 seniors in the metro Atlanta area, with an ever-growing waitlist. Their brand new state-of-the-art commercial kitchens and Good Neighbor Pantry, made possible only by the generosity of numerous in-kind donations, have tripled MOWA’s production capacity to more than 3,500 delicious and nutritious meals per day. MOWA looks forward to serving more seniors going into the new year, but is always in need of volunteers and donations.
